Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is disorder that refers to a wide spectrum of sleep-related conditions that result in abnormal breathing during sleep. This includes abnormal respiratory patterns, heavy snoring, and others, but the most common is Sleep Apnea. The term sleep apnea can also be termed as obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). During this condition an individual is unable to breathe due to temporary obstruction of the airway in the throat.
Sleep disordered breathing conditions can be suspected from the above mentioned symptoms and a clinical examination may confirm the condition. Your doctor may recommend treatments as required. Certain oral devices can help treat OSAS.
